Bruce Highway – Cattle and Frances Creeks Upgrade

ABI Projects personnel supported the delivery of a significant $100m upgrade to a 5.8 km section of the Bruce Highway, extending from just south of the Pappins Road/Helen’s Hill intersection to north of Pomona Road.

The project involved transforming this stretch into a two-lane, undivided carriageway and constructing a new 644 m bridge over Cattle Creek to replace the existing low-level crossing. A higher-level section of the highway was also built between Cattle Creek and Pomona Road to improve flood resilience. Further works included widening the existing pavement from Pappins Road to Frances Creek and constructing a new, wider bridge over Frances Creek.

To address flood-prone areas, major culverts were installed near Pappins Road and Penna’s Road, alongside upgrades to several rural intersections.

This upgrade significantly reduces the frequency and severity of road closures at Cattle and Frances Creeks, delivering improved safety, connectivity, and economic benefits for the region.
